This is a summary of a panel discussion that was part of the 17th Annual Meeting of the AAS, May 2-5/84. Community response to the apparent epidemic of suicides in Plano, Texas, is examined. This included the establishment of a needs assessment study & the resultant formation of a crisis service. Carol Steele, director, discusses the common characteristics of the Plano suicides & key community issues identified. J.S. Smith discusses the epidemiologic concept of a “Cluster” of suicides.(NBB)
