Results of a survey of adult residents of Calgary, Alberta (a city of 600,000) indicated that between 10% & 15% of the population were at risk for suicidal behavior. This stratified random sample of 679 adults yielded several distinct subtypes of variables associated with suicidal ideas & suicidal action.
