The association between artefacts (skin lesions produced deliberately by the patient) & self destructive behavior is investigated in this study of skin clinic patients (35 females, 2 males). Results of psychological tests (CPT & Rosenzweig Picture-Frustration Tests & psychiatric interviews) revealed previous suicide attempts, early childhood traumata, mental disorders, & behavior & responses consistent with a diagnosis of borderline personality.(NBB)
