A crisis intervention service for the management of attempted suicide is described. Major features of the service are intensive early intervention, routine use of conjoint marital & family interviews, & a multidisciplinary team approach. Data are presented to indicate such an approach to achieve high levels of treatment engagement, low rates of repetition of suicidal behavior, & high morale among staff.
