Suicide attempters admitted to a psychiatric hospital during the period Oct.1980 – Apr.1981 were interviewed using a structural interview format comprising 300 questions, which were divided into psychological, psychiatric & sociological components. Results revealed equal numbers of males & females; drug overdose as the most common method; low lethality; high ambivalence; few diagnosed depressives; high number of neurotics; few psychotics.(NBB)
