Lithium in the Prevention of Affective Disorders and Suicide: 13 Years of Experience

In a survey of 66 affective patients maintained on Lithium for 8 – 13 years, a significantly high rate of successful prophylaxis was found both in the unipolar & bipolar forms. The effect was also highly significant in preventing suicidal thoughts & attempts.
