This article examines factors contributing to excellent relationships between lay & professional volunteer staff of a suicide prevention centre throughout the 11 years the service has been in existence. The Centre’s history, funding, structure & interrelationships with the community are discussed, as are the personality traits of the volunteers, their education & self-concept as crisis interviewers.(NBB)
