Questionnaires completed by the staff of a medical unit indicated that they attempted to care for suicidal patients in an overall fashion. They cited few difficulties with the admission phase but stated that both awakening & discharge phases proved problematic. They felt inadequately prepared to provide therapeutic assistance during these phases, having to rely upon their own resources due to a lack of work guidance.(NBB)
