The author discusses the use of benzodiazepines, citing case histories where this type of drug has been used in suicidal attempts. The author concludes that these drugs are relatively safe & suicide can rarely be accomplished by the use of these drugs alone. However, benzodiazepines can produce depressive reactions in some patients & therefor it is recommended they be used cautiously in suicidal individuals.(NBB)
