A follow up study of 109 patients who had attempted suicide was done 8 months after their attempt. 2 patients (2%) subsequently committed suicide. Prior to follow up these patients had been classified as either serious or non-serious risks. The findings that differentiated these patients were those readily available while taking a history & observing the patient. Implications for classification & hospitalization are discussed.(NBB)
