1981 U.S. statistics indicate 167 deaths from suicide by children aged 5 to 14; Canadian statistics reported 35 such deaths in the same age group. The author believes that actual rates are much higher & presents evidence that suicidal children communicate their intent both verbally & by altered behavior. Clues, symptomatology, & prevention strategies are outlined.(NBB)
