The author suggests that although the detoxification of domestic gas may contribute to less completed suicides, the increase in attempted suicide by self poisoning suggests that suicidal persons are using different methods that happen to be more conducive to treatment. Other factors influencing statistics are the work of the Samaritans in prevention & disagreement on the part of professionals in classifying & defining self destructive behavior.(NBB)
