This paper explores the relationship between marital status & mortality for both men & women. The author utilizes data from The National Centre for Health Statistics, covering age specific mortality rates for selected causes by race, sex, & marital status, for the years 1959-61. The major finding is that, controlling for age, the married have lower mortality than the divorced, widowed or single, & this differemce is greater for men than women.(NBB)
