188 women who had had legal abortions were interviewed approximately 3 months following the abortion: 88% had neither sought psychiatric help nor attempted suicide, or had they been hospitalized for a psychiatric disorder. The authors cite previous psychiatric disorder, problems with the man involved, family or financial difficulties as more significant than the act of abortion in contributing to psychiatric disorders.(NBB)
