Abstract
Peer Counselling – Teens Talking to Teens
It is estimated that the ratio of counsellers to students in Canadian high schools is much higher than the 1:200 figure considered ideal. In an attempt to fill this need, & in particular to reduce the rate of adolescent suicide, Dr. Rey Carr of Victoria formed a peer counselling group in 1974. This article describes the work of these volunteers & their success in helping troubled adolescents in varied areas of concern.(NBB)
