The study of suicide has recently expanded to include the family & friends of a suicide victim, since the loss of a loved one is the most frequent precipitator of suicide, survivors are themselves particularly at risk. The need for sensitive day-to-day support in the form of talking, listening & encouragement is emphasized. Also of importance is the treatment of affected children: honest discussion & inclusion in the ritual of mourning are encouraged by the author.(NBB)
