This article presents an overview of the forms of occupational stress experienced by law enforcement officers. Particular attention is given to various types of police stressors, including the stresses experienced by policewomen & by police families. Stress reactions, including extreme reactions such as burnout, premature death, & suicide, are also discussed. Also Psychological services, both proactive & reactive, in support of police officers from recruitment to retirement.
