Suicidal behavior is often conceptualized as stemming from affiliative motives. The need for affiliation was tested for and found not to be significant in a sample of 33 pairs of suicide notes, one of each pair being a genuine note & the other a simulated note. The need for further investigation in this area is suggested.(NBB)
