This study examined the relationship between the rate of suicide in various non-literate societies & the extent to which members of each society believed that illnesses were caused by the spirits of the dead. The prediction was made that a high rate of suicide would be associated with a low fear of the dead. However, for reasons which are not clear, this prediction could not be statistically verified.
