This study shows how a combination of the principles of Rational Emotive Therapy & Behavioral Counseling strategies were employed with a depressed university student who attempted suicide after being placed on academic probation. The author suggests that this mixed modality could be profitably extended to other vital areas such as the depression experienced by lecturers during appraisal for promotion exercises in Nigerian universities & when manuscripts for journal publication are rejected.
