Depression has become more amenable to treatment, yet its associated morbidity & mortality remain alarmingly high. The common assumption that only severely depressed patients are potentially suicidal may lead physicians to overlook significant clues to suicide risks among their patients with mild to moderate depression & thus fail to institute aggressive preventive treatment measures.
