10 yrs of suicide occuring in New Hampshire were studied to determine relationship of rural versus urban setting in the suicide rate. The data seems to indicate an increase in rural suicide, change to a more lethal mode for females, overall change in modes during the 10 yr. span & the fact that the rate for married people suiciding is the highest consistently. The postulatin of Yankee puritan ethics & stoicism are discussed in relation to this irascible problem.
