Treatment of Child and Adolescent Suicide Attempters (IN: Suicide in the Young, ed. by H S Sudak et al)

This chapter reviews major areas of psychopathology associated with suicide attempts & some specific treatments that are available for their management. 4 therapies are discussed: insight-oriented psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral, family & group therapy. Noting the paucity of empirical treatment studies & the criteria for good comparative treatment research design, authors review evidence from studies of adults for the effects of treatment on improving social adjustment & preventing suicide.
