Increasing Suicide Rates in Adolescents and Young Adults in an Urban Community (1958-1982): Tests of Hypothesis from Natinal Data (IN: Suicide in the Young, ed. by H S Sudak et al)
Rushforth N B~~et al
The authors attempt to determine the cause of increasing rates of suicide in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, over the period 1958-1982. Rates increased particularly for those < 40 years of age, in the adolescent & young adult age groups. Research revealed that shifts in the urban population & changes in the demography of that population were significant factors. Results supported that suicide rates increase with an increase in the number of individuals aged 15-24 in the general population.(NBB)
