Presented is a study of a 16-year-old suicidal girl. Eight factors contributing to the patient’s suicidal behavior are outlined: the wish for care & protection, defenses against the fear of abandonment, the wish for care & protection, the wish for narcissistic union, the need to be separate & independent, defenses against agression, expression of aggression, avoidance of patental aggression & defenses against sexuality.
