Abstract
Guidelines for Admission of Alcohol-Dependent Patients to General Hospitals
American Medical Association
Reaffirms an earlier American Medical Association policy guideline statement regarding the admission for: infectious diseases, coma, the desire to withdraw from alcohol, disulfiram-alcohol reactions, and impending delirium tremens. Admission to the psychiatric service of the general hospital should be considered if the patient is psychotic, potentially suicidal, or a management problem.
