Morrison G C~~Smith W R
The differences & similarities between children referred as emergencies to a psychiatric clinic & those to a private practice are enumerated. The authors proposed definition of an emergency in child psychiatry is when parental absence, anxiety or helplessness provokes a situation which the child experiences as desertion & isolation. The child’s emergency coping becomes one of withdrawal, projection or decompensation.
