Effects of Parental Deprivation: An Overview of Literature and Report on Some Current Research

The present paper reviews some pertinent literature on the effects of parental deprivation during early childhood. Several studies of parental separation during early childhood are presented. These studies tend to show that separation of the child from parents, either for a short or a long period, will result in significant behavioral change.
