A case of double suicide by chloroform in a pair of twins is described. At autopsy a diffuse and severe visceral congestion was noted, together with pulmonary oedama. Microscopically, an initial centrilobular liver steatosis was observed. The results of the toxicological analyses were the following: brain 50.4 ppm and 156 ppm respectively; liver 16.2 and 86.2 ppm; blood 30 ppm and 40 ppm; gastric content: chloroform absent in both cases.
