Transparency and the Suicide Potential: A Reply to the Discussion by Olivier Flournoy

Reply to Flournoy’s (1974) discussion on the instability of the parameters of transparency proposed by Roth & Blatt (1974). Three dimensional representation of volume enclosure does not characterize stable depression as referred to by Flournoy, but signals progression in reactive depression or negative therapeutic reactions associated with resolution of the Oedipal conflict. The case of a woman who made a serious suicide attempt is included as illustration. (4 refs.) (RM)
