Reviews the literature on double suicide & presents 2 cases: a suicide pact between 2 young women, & a pact between an older married couple. The cases are unique in that all 4 participants were in psychotherapy prior to their successful suicides, thus making antecedent histories available for review. It is suggested that the dominant & passive members of suicide pacts have specific psychodynamics that, when brought together, make suicide more likely. (13 refs)
