This article gives historical background, cultural scope of the taboo & a legal definition of incest. Its frequency is probably far greater than statistics reveal. The main focus is on father-daughter incest. The father’s psychological characteristics, past criminal record, that they experience little guilt, etc are described. Characteristics of wives & daughters are given. 2 case reports are presented; in 1, the victim makes a suicidal gesture. Detection & treatment is discussed.
