The data on suicide were obtained from Diggory(1976) and the U.S.Public Health Service for the years of 1948-1977. An econometric time series analysis was performed on the data. The findings were that the cost of mother’s labor force participation(MLFP) outweigh the economic benefit for males and given anticipated increases in MLFP, for the future, we might anticipate further increases in the suicidal rates of young adult males (20-39).
