This proceeding discusses the mental & physical state of anorexia nervosa & bulimia. Through the use of the Hopkins Symptom Checklist it was discovered Anorexia Nervosa has many symptoms in common with depression. The patients have enormous denial & refusal to recognise their situation, however, they rarely express a desire to die. After a sufficient period of starvation, certain physiological changes occur, which in turn make it more difficult for the patient to return to a normal physiological & psychological state.
