Letter to the Editor Safinofsky notes the high risk of suicide among doctors and their wives. He discusses the factors of alcohol/drug abuse, knowledge of toxicology and surface anatomy, marital status, and marital strain. Data indicates an excess of unmarried and divorced physicians among those suicided but no conclusive evidence of excess marital strain. Suggestions for early screening and counselling are proposed.(TG)
