Parental deprivation & its aftermath is qualitatively different when normal & abnormal population samples are contrasted. 3 abnormal & 2 normal groups were generated through studies on variables related to parental deprivation & other family characteristics. It was concluded that the vulnerability of selected individuals in certain families is compounded when these individuals are exposed to specific effects of the various types of parental deprivation. 65 refs.
