A group of bipolar patients was studied. The effects of lithium has been studied & found to have good prophylactic effects. Possible social factors contibuting to the illness were discussed. Mortality & suicide frequencies were found to be low, this was attributed to the lithium treatments. A genetic link was not found. (MRE)
