The author highlights a paper presented by B.D. Garfinkel and A.Slaby at the recent annual meeting of the National Association of Private Psychiatric Hospitals. Examination of the histories of 1500 young people who committed suicide indicate that depression, other psychiatric illnesses, and suicide are intimately involved.
