This study of suicides and homicides reveals that the suicide rate is significantly lower and the homicide rate is much higher in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, than in Zurich and in Switzland. The influence of the different racial, sexual and social conditions on these rates and the means used to commit suicide or homicide in the 2 countries are discussed.
