There is no infallible formula available that will identify a student who might attempt suicide. However, caregivers need to be aware of any marked or sudden changes in a student’s attitude and behaviour. Of prime importance when dealing with troubled students is to listen. Threats should always be taken seriously. The resources of the school and the community should be made available to families in the form of specific information.(GW)
