An attitude scale (suicide opinion questionnaire-SOQ) specifically concerning cultural attitudes of suicide was developed & tested. The 15 factors range from risk, demographics, lethality & acceptance in 100 item questions. The SOQ is useful to determine attitudes of, for example, potential volunteers. The authors report on the complexity of the attitudes in our culture. (LS)
