The First Year of Bereavement: A Longitudinal Study of the Reaction of London Widows to the Death of Their Husbands

22 London widows under age 65 were interviewed at least 5 times in the 13 months after the deaths of their husbands. Changes in anxiety, & other features of grief, over the first year of bereavement are mapped out. Mention is made of a suicidal gesture moments after a husband’s death, & of one widow’s suicidal ideation throughout the first year of bereavement. (31 refs.) (RM)
