This article discusse the play “The Country Wife” by Restoration playwright Wycherley. States that this play is more than an honest expose of hypocrisy or the consequences of jealousy. It is also a serious comment on self-destructive impotence, neglectfulness & ineptitude of the Restoration male, whose representative sign is the eunuch.
