This article describes the case of a 15-year-old who demonstrated many self destructive behaviors. She was admitted to the hospital because she traumatized a post-operative incision & prevented it from healing. Once in the hospital, she displayed numerous other self destructive tendencies (e.g. swallowing safety pins). The patient’s traumatic childhood & family life is detailed, as well as the results of a mental examination. (VM)
