Examines the incidence & influence of marital disharmony & broken homes in a group of suicide attempters, as compared to psychiatric out-patients. Marital disharmony, broken homes, & conflict in families appear to occur frequently in all patient groups. The absence or inadequacy of the father was also a frequent problem. The usefulness of conselling before marriage, & or removing factors (e.g. housing problems), that cause broken homes, is discussed. (17 refs.) (RM)
