Examined the relationship between suicides & attempts & platelet MAO levels & average evoked response (AER) augmenting in 31 male & 48 female off-medication psychiatric patients (19-61 yrs) & 68 college students, chosen from the upper & lower deciles of MAO activity levels. Findings suggest that the combination of low platelet MAO activity & AER augmenting may be associated with a possible genetic vulnerability to psychiatric disorders. (48 Ref)
