This article analyzes the therapeutic abortion laws in the United States. It provides statistical information regarding the criminal abortion deaths, illegitimate pregnancy deaths & suicides during pregnancy. The author presents evidence that 60 – 85% of all abortions are said to be recommended on the basis that it is a danger to the mental health of the mother, the principal criterion of which is the likelihood of maternal suicide. Statistical evidence is cited that contradicts the precept that pregnancy increases the risk for suicide in women. (1 ref) (SC)
