This case study presents a recurrently depressed adult who overdosed on 1500 mg. of imipramine. The symptoms observed include: gross involuntary movements, dysarthria, lack of marked change in blood pressure; paraesthesiae and atropine-like effects of the drug. It was noted that the drug did not prevent a suicide attempt & there was no alleviation of depression despite gross overdose. In this particular case, the relative safety of imipramine when taken with suicidal intent is noted.(EP)
