A brief study of 20 individuals in military service, hospitalized for suicidal attempts & gestures. The inquiry included: clinical interview, social history, & psychological examinations. The following factors occurred very frequently: impulsivity, strong maternal ties, weak masculine identification, poor heterosexual adjustment & weak object relationships. All were regarded as suffering from character & behavioural disorders. (9 refs.) (RM)
