The police often play an important and underestimated role in suicide prevention.A high level of performance by the police in a suburban area is described; specifically, an analysis of 408 consecutive police investigations is presented. Police performance is believed to be linked to the use of a specially designed report form of suicide attempt investigations, emphasizing the personal-social context in which the act occurs.
